About half of our assortment of fabrics are printed using water-base reactive dyes in the USA. We love digital printing because we can create fabric in small batches, lessening our waste and keeping our environmental impact lower than with traditional rotary screen print techniques.
Reactive dyes rely on heat to catalyze the color reaction, and steam to set the dyes. In addition, we soften our fabrics through an extra wash process to lend an aged, softened feel.
The dyes we use meet Oekotex standards, meaning there are no illegal substances or known harmful chemicals used. Additionally, the dyes meet GOTS organic standards, meaning they can be used to print on GOTS-certified grounds and all allow the ground fabrics to retain their organic certification. These dyes are safe everyone who interacts with them during the various stages of production, and safe for our end customers to snuggle up against at home.
