Why does the Nankeen indigo item I received look slightly different from the image on your site?
Because it’s been hand-dyed! Any deviations from pattern are natural and reflect the hand-made character of this cloth. No two dye baths are identical, making each piece unique.
Are pillows sold with inserts?
Yes; please contact us by email should you wish to purchase only a pillow case.
How are your pillow cases sized?
Our pillow cases are sewn to size, meaning a 20x20 pillow case's finished sewn dimensions are 20x20 inches. We stuff our pillow cases with larger down inserts to make a snug fit.
What is a 10/90 down feather insert?
Our 10/90 down feather inserts are Made in the USA and filled with 10% down feathers and 90% regular feathers. Down feathers are nestled below a goose’s normal feathers. They are small, fine and fluffy, and provide the loftiness. Normal goose feathers provide the structure in the inserts.
Can I wash my insert?
Please follow the wash-care instructions on your insert’s tag, or dry clean.
I’m allergic to down, help!
We are more than happy to find you a hypoallergenic alternative. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
WASH & CARE
Can I machine-wash my LuRu Home products? Put them in the dryer?
Product care varies, please follow the instructions listed on your product’s label.
For Nankeen indigo products, we recommend machine washing on the cold cycle with dark colors. You can air-dry, or tumble dry low-heat, and use a warm iron if needed.
For vintage, screen print and digital print products, please dry clean.
Will the indigo dye bleed in the wash?
At home, it’s best to wash our indigo products with like colors, in the event that small indigo particles loosen and float in the wash. Treat Nankeen products like a pair of blue jeans, washing with dark colors only. Indigo is a natural plant dye and we do not add additional chemicals to synthetically fix the color. Said chemicals not only harm the environment, but also dull the robust, deep blue color of the natural indigo.
Will the indigo bleed into the white areas of the Nankeen fabric when it’s wet?
No! Wash away!
Will the indigo transfer onto my white sofa or bedding?
With very heavy wear and tear, the color in our modern natural indigo products will transfer. Kindly remember that indigo is a natural plant dye which rests on the fibers, rather than bonding with them. Without chemicals, natural dyes cannot fully adhere themselves, and as we do not use chemicals, such is the case with Nankeen fabric. Should you have any concerns, please get in touch. We’re able to replicate the indigo color with screen and digital printing, please email about alternative customized options. Vintage indigo fabrics will not crock due to their age.
Any last words of advice?
LuRu Home fabric is not guaranteed against natural wear, fading, finish and dye-lot variations. Any deviations from pattern are natural and reflect the hand-made character of this cloth.
FABRIC BY THE YARD
Do you sell fabric by the yard?
Yes! You may purchase yardage directly through us over email or the phone, or we can refer you to one of our trade showrooms.
Is all of your yardage made in China?
Our Nankeen fabrics are hand-printed in Shanghai, China by artisan families who have been practicing the craft for generations. Because Nankeen dyeing is an indigo process, we cannot print other colors in the same manner.
We work with hand screen printing and digital print workshops in the USA to print the other colors you see in our collection.
Can I customize my fabric by the yard order?
Everything is customizable – colorways, ground fabrics, scale, prints, patterns, print technique. Please get in touch with us to learn more about our custom design services.
Do you sell vintage fabrics by the piece?
Yes, indeed. We collect vintage fabrics from all over China, and our stock rotates regularly. We can arrange to sew custom pillows, or apply a supportive knit backing for light upholstery. Please email email@example.com or call to learn more.
Where are you located? Can I visit?
Our main studio space is in Brooklyn, New York! To arrange a visit, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
